Our Story



We, the member of the Bexar County Buffalo Soldiers' Association, a multicultural organization, are dedicated to educating the general public through media and educational systems about the history of the Buffalo Soldiers and Black Indian Scouts. Their contributions in settling the Western Sector of the United States during the 1800's. This organization will be noted for historical teaching.

The functions of the unit are, but not limited to:

-- Provides speakers for schools, youth groups, churches, civic and social organizations

-- Sponsors and/or involvement in youth groups

-- Participates in trail rides, parades, cultural fairs, posting of the Colors and other historical events

-- Establishes a listing of resources available at the Institute of Texan Culture and the San Antonio Public Library
